Origin
The Historical Society of Ottawa (1990)

Purpose
To honour the best term paper in History dealing with the National Capital region submitted to the Department between January 1 and December 31.

Eligibility
Students must be registered as 3rd-year students in history at the time of submission of the term paper.

Value
$500 + medallion

Number
One/every second year (1997, 1999 ...)

Application procedure
Professor submits an unmarked copy of the term paper to the Chair of the Department.

Selection
The executive committee of the Department of History will act as the award committee.

Deadline for applications
Professors must make their recommendation to the Chair of the Department no later than January 15.

Decision
January 31

Admissibility
Only once
